RESOLVED that the Minutes of the meetings held on 23 June 2009 and 25 June 2009 are correctly recorded and that they be signed by the Chairman.

RESOLVED that the Terms of Reference of the Committee and the following meeting dates be noted:-

Wednesday, 7 October 2009;

Wednesday, 27 January 2010;

Friday, 12 March 2010;

Wednesday, 2 June 2010;

Friday, 10 September 2010;

Friday, 19 November 2010.

RESOLVED that the report be noted.

(1)       A working document giving details of the Conservative group nominations was tabled.

(2)       The Committee agreed to delegate a decision on whether to appoint a Labour Group Member to the Kent and Medway Fire and Rescue Authority in place of one of the Conservative Group Members to the Head of Democratic Services and Local Leadership in consultation with the Chairman of the Committee.

(3)       In respect of the Members’ Conference Budget, the Committee noted that a report would be made to a future meeting setting out proposals to utilise the County Council’s areas of expertise for Member training with the possibility of marketing it to other organisations in order to raise funds for additional training provided by external trainers.

(4)       RESOLVED that:-

(a)               Subject to (2) above, appointments and nominations of representatives to serve on outside bodies be made as set out in the Appendix to the Minutes; 

(b)               the proposals for the allocation of the Members’ Conference Budget be agreed as set out in the report; and

(c)               a further report be made to a future meeting of the Committee setting out further options for Member Training as set out in (3) above.

RESOLVED that consideration of this item be deferred to a future meeting of the Committee.
