15/01/2020 - 19/00075 - Changes to the KCC local funding formula for schools ref: 2312    Recommendations Approved

In response to the Government confirming the additional funding for schools, Kent County Council is set to receive an approximately £52m for 2020-21. 

 

The Council will continue to operate a local funding formula for Kent maintained schools (and this formula is also used by the Education and Skills Funding Agency for calculating Kent academy budgets) during this period and legislation dictates that any changes to that formula is subject to an all school consultation.

Decision:

The Cabinet Member for Education and Skills is asked to:

 

a)    Consider and comment, in orderto informthe decision ofthe Cabinet Member for Education and Skills, on the proposals set out within the Kent Schools’ Local Funding Formula 2020-21 consultation.

 

b)    Note that the Cabinet Member will take the relevant Key Decision in December 2019, following engagement with the Schools’ Funding Forum.

30/12/2019 - 19/00077 - Barton Court Free School - Building Contract ref: 2311    Recommendations Approved

Background:

KCC is delivering the construction of the new Barton Court Free School on the former Chaucer School site in Canterbury. The DfE has appointed KCC to act as the Local Delivery Agent (Responsible Body), with Gen2 acting as KCC’s Agent. As the Responsible Body, KCC will be the contracting authority for the purpose of delivering the scheme. The new school will be located on part of the former Chaucer School site, with the remainder allocated to the land disposal programme.

 

A paper was presented to June 2019 ICB outlining the outcome of the procurement process to secure a building contractor and contracts are ready to be finalised.

Decision:

As Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Finance, Corporate and Traded Services, I endorse the decision to award an initial building contract to Kier Construction Limited for the Phase 2 enabling works at the Barton Court Free School site and delegate authority to the Director of Infrastructure, in consultation with the Cabinet Member for Finance, Corporate and Traded Services, to finalise the contractual terms and enter into any necessary documentation.
