These are the following reasons for the requested change:
1) There is a nursery in the building called the lodge which is
right next to the main road one accident at high speed is a serious
risk to thoes in that building many of which are obviously young
children
2) The blind spot that exists because of the nature of the
trees/walls means it's very dangerous to pull out of the nursery
successfully when cars are coming at you at 70mph (Even for people
that do it every day)
3) With the amount of houses being built in the local area
pedestrian traffic on the foot paths -Mainly parents walking their
children to school or nursery is increasing all the time from once
what was a fairly unused foot path
4) That road is the most direct access to Halling school and a lot
of children walk there from Holbrough Lakes and snodland as
well
5) The crossing at the top by the Peters village roundabout has no
hazard awareness for the drivers and as the cars fly around the
roundabout from the cuxton direction that's an accident waiting to
happen. So needs investment into a pedestrian crossing some people
stand there for ages waiting to cross and when they do cars fly
round the roundabout so fast that it's a hazard every time.
6) With the sheer volume of children using the road now the cars
would not be able to stop if one were to fall in the road of
accidently stray there. This would not be that difficult to imagine
given the width of the path.
7) The benefit from it being a national speed limit is almost non
existent due to the proximity of the two roundabouts
8) Drivers are not aware that there is a nursery on the road so
cars that slow down to pull into the nursery risk having cars hit
them from behind of the drivers are not paying attention. Due to
the nature of the turning you have to slow down quite substantially
to pull in safely.
In the past I understand why the road was national speed limit
but with the Holbrough Lakes development growing significantly and
the increase in children walking to Halling school and the nursery
from snodland and Holbrough Lakes I urge you to review this
ASAP.
This road is a serious accident waitingg to happen.
