St Gregory's Catholic Primary School, Margate - Increased Road Safety

We the undersigned petition the council to reduce the speed limit in the surrounding area to 20mph and provide safe crossings for children, particularly at the hazardous six-point junction of Shottendane/Hartsdown/Nash/College/Tivoli Roads and Empire Terrace.

Persistent "red-light jumpers" and blind corners put the lives of children and their family members at risk on a daily basis in the area surrounding St Gregory's Primary School. The previous long-retired school crossing patrol officer was never replaced and there are no safe crossing measures whatsoever in place, on what is one of the largest road junctions in the Thanet area. There have been several near misses and parents have used terms such as 'terrified' when having to cross the roads to get their children to school.
We urge KCC to implement safety measures including a reduction in the speed limit and road crossing patrol/pelican crossing in line with those afforded to other schools.
