Lydd is a beautiful town but it has very few facilities for the
youngsters. Most of the older children go to the Marsh Academy in
New Romney, where there are far more facilities.They would be able
to cycle to school. New Romney have a skate park, a leisure centre
etc. Lydd has neither and as the public transport is both expensive
and irregular (at this present time) we would love to see a cycle
route that could be used by young and older alike. It would take
transport off the road, which is both good for the environment and
safer. It would also provide physical health as well as mental
well-being. People who haven’t got transport would be able to
access other areas.
Bikes could be hired from Romney Cycles and holiday makers would be
able to cycle from New Romney to Rye, bringing business to local
areas. (Cafes, pubs etc.)
The Marsh is flat so people should be encouraged to enjoy it and
embrace the beauty of it. Please sign and hopefully we will get
Lydd and New Romney connected.
