Closure of Dorothy Lucy Care centre

We the undersigned petition the council to keep the Dorothy Lucy Care Centre in Maidstone open

The Centre in Northumberland Road caters for day- care for the elderly (including those with dementia), respite care as well as other services.
We believe that the closure of this facility would be detrimental to the wellbeing of those using the centre and their families.

Council response

Response from Mr Graham Gibbens - Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care and Public Health

"A Recommendation Report that will consider this petition alongside all of the responses to the public consultation since 28 September 2015 will be discussed at the meeting of the Adult Social Care and Public Health Cabinet Committee on 14 January 2016. I will then take my decision shortly after this meeting which is expected to be in week commencing 18 January 2016. I would like to assure you that I will only consider taking the decision to close the centre if sufficient evidence has been provided that alternative provision is available. Ultimately, no closure would take place without the alternative provision in place and operational."
