Stop spraying glyphosate

We the undersigned petition the council to Stop spraying the harmful herbicide glyphosate on footpaths and roads in towns and villages across the county. 1) There is ongoing scientific evidence that glyphosate causes health problems such as respiratory issues, allergic reactions, skin and eye irritation, headaches, nausea, and long-term exposure has been highlighted as a cause of cancer. It is currently sprayed twice a year close to schools, residential areas and on footpaths in rural and built-up areas. 2) Growing research on the use of glyphosate on pollinators such as bees has shown it may impact them in more subtle ways, while not killing them straight away research is starting to highlight how it is impacting them. These range from impeding the growth of bee larvae, diminishing bees’ navigational skills, altering their foraging behaviour, and disrupting their gut microorganisms allowing for a weaker immunity from diseases in younger bees. All these issues combined are adding to a declining weaker bee population w

KCC has a pollinator initiative that is counterproductive with the use of herbicide that more evidence is linking to bee declines. The herbicide they are spraying in public areas is an irritant and more evidence is coming to light it maybe a carcinogenic.
