To seek agreement to adopt the Kent Local Flood Risk Management Strategy
The local strategy is a statutory requirement of the Flood and Water Management Act 2010 for Lead Local Flood Authorities (county and unitary authorities).
We have a duty to adopt a local strategy, there is therefore a risk of failing to undertake our statutory obligations if we do not adopt one. There are costs associated with the implementation of the strategy, but many of these undertakings are also statutory requirements. All costs incurred in delivering the objectives of the strategy by KCC will be covered by grant funding from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
