Outside Bodies

We sometimes appoint Elected Members to sit on external partnerships or organisations, collectively called “outside bodes”.

Select Committees

Select Committees are time-limited, task specific formal sub-committees of the Scrutiny Committee, which look at specific policy issues in depth. They were appointed from time to time to carry out reviews on behalf of the Scrutiny Committee with the same powers as the main committee.

The last Select Committee finished its work in 2019. Since then, the Council has changed the way it works, using Short Focused Inquiries, which are smaller and quicker, and look at very specific subjects.
