18/00059 - Establishing a 15 place Specialist Resource Provision at Kings Farm Primary School

Decision Maker: Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Education

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Purpose:

Kings Farm Primary School is a community school providing education for students of all abilities aged 4-11.  There are currently 404 children on roll with 99 children with an SEN need and 4 children with an EHCP.

KCC want to build upon the existing provision of the school by establishing a Specialist Resource Base Provision (SRP) within the school for students with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

The school has been identified by Kent County Council (KCC) as doing particularly well at supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).  KCC has asked the school to consider creating a new SRP within the school for up to 15 children. The places will be commissioned by KCC and reviewed each year.  It is expected that the SRP would open initially with a small number of children currently on roll at the school who meet the criteria for a place in the SRP.

Decision:

The Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Education is asked to:

(i)            consider the results of a consultation to seek opinions on the establishment of a 15 place Specialist Resource Provision at Kings Farm Primary School.

(ii)          issue a statutory public notice to establish a 15 place Special Resource Provision at Kings Farm Primary School from September 2019.
