Purpose:

These are contracts to supply waste services to the Growth, Environment and Transport Directorate. The contracts will provide food waste processing capability for waste arising from household kerbside collections performed by the district councils.

 

Financial Implications: The proposed contract spend by KCC will be approximately £4.8m for an initial period of up to six years, with a possible extension of up to six years based on performance.

Legal Implications: KCC has a statutory responsibility as the Waste Disposal Authority for the disposal of household waste. These contracts are required to prevent extension of existing contracts which would be in breach of Procurement Regulations.

Equality Implications: The EqIA undertaken concluded that no Protected Characteristics will be impacted upon either positively or negatively as a result of this contract(s) award.

Decision:

As Cabinet Member for Environment and Transport, I agree that Kent County Council should proceed to award contracts to the preferred tenderers following completion of the procurement process for the provision of Food Waste Processing for household waste arising in Kent.

 

a)         Lot 1: Food Waste annual indicative tonnage of 14,000

 

b)         Lot 2: Food Waste annual indicative tonnage of 5,000
