Purpose:

Proposed decision:

 

a) To change the service delivery for individual lifestyle services (Smoking Cessation, Health Checks, Health Trainers and Healthy Weight)  into an integrated lifestyle service called One You Kent.

 

b) To extend the current contracts for Living Well/Ageing Well services – Smoking Cessation, Health Checks, Health Trainers and Healthy Weight – to 30th September 2017  to allow for potential impact by the developing Sustainability and Transformation Plan (STP) to be taken account of prior to the competitive tendering of a new model.

 

How the decision relates to BS4K and Corporate Objectives:

In line with the council’s Strategic Framework, extending the existing contracts will allow for a focus on outcomes, whilst developing new services that will be based around the needs of the people of Kent.

Financial Implications:

The annual costs will be in the region of £7million. This is subject to final saving targets agreed with providers and costs for service activity and prescribing. This includes contracts for Health Checks, Lifestyle services (including family weight) and funding to district councils.

The Living Well/Ageing Well contracts that are proposed to be extended currently are as follows:

·         Health Checks  (currently expires March 2017) 

·         Healthy Weight (currently expires March 2017)

·         Smoking Cessation (currently expires March 2017)

·         Health Trainers (currently expires March 2017)

Legal Implications: The decision will require a single source tender to extend the existing contracts to 30th September 2017.

The matter is referred to in the Directorate Business Plan/ Medium Term Capital Programme.

 

 

Decision:

As Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care and Public Health, I agree to:

 

a)    Change the service delivery for individual lifestyle services into an integrated lifestyle service called One You Kent; and

 

b)    Extend current contracts for healthy lifestyle services until 30 September 2017, to take account of emerging changes in the health and social care system.
