As part of the Kent Minerals and Waste Local
Plan 2013-30 Independent Examination, the Government-appointed
inspector determined that further guidance on minerals and waste
safeguarding matters was required to ensure that the process is
followed in a clear and consistent manner in compliance with
national planning guidance. A draft minerals and waste SPD was
prepared and considered at the November 2016 Environment and
Transport Cabinet Committee prior to public consultation. Public
consultation took place in December 2016 to January 2017 and the
SPD has been adjusted accordingly. A decision is required by the
Cabinet Member to adopt the 2017 SPD to enable its use in guidance
to the planning proces and to meet the Inspector's
expectations.
As Cabinet Member for Environment and Transport, I agree to adopt the Kent Minerals and Waste Safeguarding Supplementary Planning Document March 2017 and to delegate the Director of Environment, Planning and Enforcement authorisation to make any further minor modifications which may be needed such as formatting changes and typographical errors in order to publish to Minerals and Waste Safeguarding Supplementary Planning Document.
