Purpose:

To Enlarge Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys, St John's Road, Tunbridge Wells, TN4 9XB, thereby increasing the PAN from 180 to 210 selective secondary school places from September 2019.

Decision:

As Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Education, I agree to:

 

Support the expansion of Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys, St John’s Road, Tunbridge Wells, TN4 9XB. Therefore I agree to:

 

i.        Allocate £7.7 million from the Basic Needs budget to fund the permanent expansion of Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys, thereby increasing the PAN from 180 to 210 selective secondary school places from September 2019.

 

ii.        Authorise the Director of Infrastructure in consultation with General Counsel to enter into any necessary contracts/agreements on behalf of the County Council

 

iii.        Authorise the Director of Infrastructure to be nominated Authority Representative within the relevant agreements and to enter into variant ion as envisaged under the contracts

The decision is conditional upon planning permission being granted and final approval by the Secretary of State. The costs of the project are estimates and these may increase as the project is developed. If the cost of the project is greater than 10%, the Cabinet Member will be required to take a further decision to allocate the additional funding.
