Decision details

Decision is needed to enable sufficient provision of Older Persons Residential and Older Persons Nursing care beds across Kent so that the market can fulfil KCC’s statutory duty to place those assessed as requiring this type of care. By securing sufficient provision at a ‘fair price’ for all those in need of residential/nursing care, KCC will continue to meet the aim of the council being a commissioning authority. These contracts directly support two of the council’s objectives:

• Support the transformation of health and social care in Kent.
• Improve services for the most vulnerable people in Kent.

As Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care and Public Health, I:

AGREE that Kent County Council enter into contracts with the suitable Residential Care and Nursing Care Homes identified through the tender exercise.

DELEGATE the authority to the Corporate Director, Social Care Health and Wellbeing, or other suitable officer, to undertake the actions to implement this decision.
