The Kent Commissioning Plan for Education
Provision 2013-18 identified the need for a new two-form entry
primary school at Finberry, Cheeseman’s Green in the Ashford
district. 1.2 The Local Authority sought promoters for the new
academy and Stour Academy Trust were chosen by the Secretary of
State for Education to promote the new school. The academy will be
established through a funding agreement with the Education Funding
Agency (EFA) and open on land owned by the local authority.
Agreement is needed to allocate £6 million from the Education
and Young People’s Services Capital Budget in order that the
proposal may go ahead.
As Cabinet Member for Education and Health Reform I agree to:
(i) Allocate £6m from the Education & Young People's Services Capital Budget;
(ii) Authorise the Director of Property and Infrastructure Support in consultation with the Director of Law and Governance to enter into any necessary contracts/ agreements on behalf of the County Council;
(iii) Authorise the Director of Property and Infrastructure Support to be the nominated Authority Representative within the relevant agreements and to enter into variations as envisaged under the contracts.
