Proposed decision: To approve the 2015-2020 Kent and Medway Suicide Prevention Strategy
The decision relates to BS4K and Corporate Objectives as follows:
The impact of suicides is felt by individuals, families and whole community regardless of age or ethnicity. Working in partnership to prevent suicides will support each one of the County Council’s Strategic Outcomes as contained in the Strategic Statement and directly relates to the following Supporting Outcomes:
· Children and Young People have better physical and mental health
· Physical and mental health is improved by supporting people to take more responsibility for their own health and wellbeing
· People with mental health issues and dementia are assessed and treated earlier and are supported to live well.

Equality Implications: An Equality Impact Assessment was conducted as part of the strategy development process, and found that there was no evidence that the Suicide Prevention Strategy will have an adverse impact on individuals because of any protected characteristic.
The matter is referred to in the Business Plan but not in the Medium Term Capital Programme.
As Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care and Public Health, I approve the adoption of the 2015 – 2020 Kent and Medway Suicide Prevention Strategy and Action Plan.
