The Panel noted its membership as set out in the agenda papers, subject to Mr R J Parry serving on the Committee in place of Mrs E M Tweed.

The appointment or removal of LEA governors to school governing bodies.

The panel noted its Terms of Reference.

The Panel noted the Guidelines for the Appointment of LEA Governors as set out in the report.

The Panel noted the Protocol for the appointment of LEA Governors as set out in the Report.

RESOLVED that the Minutes of the meeting held on 24 April 2009 are correctly recorded and that they be signed by the Chairman.

(1)       The Panel endorsed the decision taken by the Head of School Governance in consultation with the Chairman to appoint Dr A Ellis and Mr R Pickup from the pool of Additional Governors to the Governing Body of Charing CEP School.

(2)       The Panel noted that a report would be presented to its next meeting on the implications of the Government White Paper “Your Children, your schools, our future: building a 21^st century schools system.”

(3)       RESOLVED that the appointments of Local Authority Governors in Primary, Secondary, Special Schools and Pupil Referral Units be agreed as set out in the Appendix to these Minutes.
