(1)       The Panel noted that the term “Local Education Authority” had been replaced by “Local Authority” and that Local Authority Governors would now be described as Authority Governors.  It was agreed that the necessary textual changes to the guidelines should be made immediately.

 

(2)       RESOLVED that the Minutes of the meeting held on 23 April 2010 are correctly recorded and that they be signed by the Chairman.

(1)       The Panel deferred making a decision on the re-appointment of Mr A Martin to the governing body of Frittenden CEP School pending clarification on whether this would be consistent with guideline (h).

 

(2)       In agreeing to reappoint Mr G Dowd to the governing body of More Park Catholic Primary School, the Panel asked the Head of School Governance to explain to him that he should always ensure that he did not place himself in a position where there was a potential conflict of interest.

 

(3)       The Panel agreed to the reappointment of Mr B Stokes to the governing body of Lower Halstow School subject to the receipt of the completed application form from the Chair of Governors.

 

(4)       The Panel noted that the proposed amalgamation of Castle Community Community College and Walmer Science College was awaiting confirmation from the Secretary of State.  It therefore agreed to extend the terms of office of Mr J Baker, Mrs K Blackburn and Mrs B Fuller at Castle Community College and of Mr N Cavell, Dr M Eddy, Mr W Johnson and Mr G Williams at Walmer Science College from 31 August 2010 to 31 December 2010.

 

(5)       The Panel noted the proposed Federation of St George’s CE (VC) Primary and Trottiscliffe CEP School and agreed to extend the term of office of Mr M Knight.

 

(6)       The Panel noted the following appointments to governing bodies made under delegated powers in consultation with the Chairman: -

 

(a)                 Mr M MacKenzie -Brenchley and Matfield CEP School;

(b)                 Mrs M Vacher - Paddock Wood Primary School;  and

(c)                 Mr J Fassenfelt, Mr J Woolley and Mr G Clifton – The Westland and Woodgrove Federation.

 

(7)       The Panel considered the following nominations and decided not to make the appointments:-

 

            (a)       Mr B Naughton – Victoria Road Primary School, Ashford;

            (b)       Mr A King – Cranbrook School;

            (c)        Mr J Cunningham – Cranbrook School; and

            (d)       Mr S FooksBredhurst CEP School.

 

(8)       The Panel agreed to consider 6 late submissions. The Panel decided that those for Mrs P Marshall (Madginford Park Infant and Junior Schools) should be deferred pending the receipt of full details. The following appointments were made:-

 

(a)               Mr B Cope – Priory Fields School;

(b)               Mr A King – Mascalls School;

(c)               Mr H Bracey – Wilmington Grammar School for Boys (subject to a satisfactory attendance record);

(d)               Mr A Chell – Loose Junior School; and 

(e)               Mrs V Oxberry – Aylesford Primary School.

 

(9)       The Panel considered two nominations for Ramsgate Christ Church CE Junior School and decided to postpone a decision until its next meeting.

 

(10)     RESOLVED that the appointments of Authority Governors in Primary, Secondary, Special Schools and Pupil Referral Units be agreed as set out in the Appendix to these Minutes.
