Minutes:

1) The conference had been convened under the requirement of the Education Act 1996 to review the Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education. The process had to be started within five years of adoption of the current syllabus by the LA. The role of the Conference is to produce and recommend an agreed syllabus for RE which meets fully the requirements of the 1988 Act and is educationally sound.

2) The conference had been appointed with the same composition, membership, and chairman as SACRE itself, with the power to seek advice from those it considered appropriate to inform the development of effective RE provision in its area.

3) Alan Foster asked that members confirm what cost is incurred by their attendance to the clerk.

4) Mr Foster explained that as we don’t know the new settlement or budgetary issues as of yet it would be best to adjourn the conference.

5) Mr Maddison proposed the suggestion to adjourn the Conference to a time when the Budget was known, this was seconded by Mrs Younosi.

6) Agreed that the conference be adjourned.

7) Mr Foster and Mr Manion would review anticipated costs for the Syllabus review in order to present a business case for additional funds from KCC
