Kent Youth County Council and Thanet Youth Council members will update the Board on their recent elections, their role and the local issues in Thanet that matter to them.

Colin Maclean will give a presentation on the Margate Task Force.  Building on the significant work already undertaken by the Margate Renewal Partnership, Colin will describe how the Margate Task Force is developing radical new ways for public agencies and the community to work together to tackle the difficult issues facing Margate Central and Cliftonville West.  The Margate Task Force is one strand of the Kent Total Place pilot, a government initiative and one of 13 Total Place pilot areas nationwide

Jonathan will outline plans to restore Dreamland, home to the UK’s oldest surviving rollercoaster, as ‘the world’s first heritage amusement park’.  With help from partner agencies in Thanet, the Dreamland Trust successfully bid for £3.7m of funding from the Department of Culture, Media and Sport’s ‘Sea Change’ programme.  The project to restore the new Dreamland is now well underway and promises to give a huge boost to tourism in Thanet and significantly benefit local businesses.
