The crossing links the pedestrian pavement along the B2015 to the Village Hall, a Preschool, a children's playground and a bus-stop. The preschool also runs a "Walking-Bus" taking the children out twice a day for a walk and the Zebra Crossing is their only option to cross the road.

Vehicles regularly do not stop to let the staff and children cross the road, despite the fact that they are all wearing hi vis jackets.

There is a recognised issue with speeding at this location and there have been 3 accidents resulting in "near misses" in the last year, in which speeding drivers have shunted stopped vehicles across the Zebra Crossing whilst adults and children were crossing. It is felt that it is only a matter of time before a serious or even a fatal accident occurs at this location and that an upgrade to a signalised crossing would reduce this likelihood. The safety of residents – particularly children, the vulnerable and pensioners must be taken into consideration.
