The lighting currently provided is insufficient to provide safe passage for residents at night. As a result of a recent alleged rape of a woman walking home from High Brooms station on a Saturday evening, Silverdale resident's trust and confidence in the area has been shattered and many believe improved lighting is now essential.
Silverdale Road is a vibrant commuter hub with a high proportion of residents relying on High Brooms station on a daily basis, many of whom have chosen to live on Silverdale Road for that exact reason.
The main area which needs improved street lighting is the bottom of the road where it meets Upper Grosvenor Road, around the shops up to the new Silverdale Mews development.
