The project is in line with Kent strategies and in particular supports the following;
Bold Steps for Kent prioritises
1) Improve how we procure and Commission Services
2) Ensure all pupils meet their full potential
3): Shape education and skills provision around the needs of the Kent economy
4). Improve services for the most vulnerable people in Kent
Bold Steps for Education
How this relates to our priorities?
The vision for the new service delivery model is that it will enable children and young people in Kent to achieve better progress and outcomes than nationally, and that early intervention will lead to a reduction in the numbers of children and young people needing statements.
SEND Review
How does this relate to our priorities?
The aims of the SEND review mirror the priorities set out in the Prospectus to support the devolution of STS to special schools. The review also aims to bring together support available to schools in a coherent, locality based way, to ensure better early identification and timely coordinated responses and interventions where necessary
Impact/costs and risks of proposed decision
Service delivery will continue as now. The needs of children and young people will continue to drive the delivery model. There is little reduction in front line staff, as it is the management of the service that is being devolved to special schools and the 5.4FTE overall change comes from the current management structure.
