    Kent Downs AONB Management Plan and High Weald AONB Management Plan

    To seek approval of the adoption of the Kent Downs & the High Weald AONB Management Plan revisions.

    The Kent Downs AONB and the High Weald AONB Management Plans both support Bold Steps for Kent by helping to achieve a sustainable rural economy, supporting (through education, access and experiences) both visitors and residents alike and using the landscape to help to tackle disadvantage in rural Kent. Raising funds through grant applications brings money into the region, enabling demonstration projects across much of rural Kent.

    Legal Implications: Adoption of AONB Management Plans and their revisions is a statutory duty under S85 CRoW Act 2000.

    The management plan revisions were presented to EHW Cabinet Committee on 3rd October 2013. The revisions received supporting comments and the committee endorsed the revised Plans.
    Other consultation planned or undertaken:
    Each AONB Unit carried out detailed discussions (expert debates and Officer Steering Group Meetings), followed by formal public consultations. The KCC Landscape Officer attended discussions with each AONB to contribute to amendments. The Officer then carried out an internal consultation with relevant services within KCC. The results of this consultation were then compiled and shared with each AONB Unit.

    The decision affects the whole County with the exception of all electoral divisions within Dartford Borough & Thanet District administrative areas.
