    This decision will support the objectives set out in “Facing the Challenge” by placing the customer at the heart of service delivery by providing additional provision arising from the new Langley Park developments.
    This decision is also in line with the objectives set out in the Kent Commissioning Plan for Education to comply with the statutory duty to provide sufficient schools and school places for Kent people.

    Financial Implications:
    Capital expenditure for the project will be funded from developer contributions and basic need capital budget. Details will be outlined in the report submitted to the Cabinet Member for Education Health and Reform.
    Legal Implications:
    KCC will seek expressions of interest to establish an Academy/Free School in accordance with Section 6A of the Education and Inspections Act 2006 and the Academy/Free School presumption guidance (October 2014).
    Equality Implications:
    An Equality Impact Assessment will be completed as part of the proposal.

    The project is referenced in the Kent Commissioning Plan for Education Provision 2015-19 which was discussed by Education and Young People’s Services Cabinet Committee on 24 September 2014 and formally agreed by Cabinet on 13 October 2014.


    Members of the Education and Young People’s Cabinet Committee will be informed of the proposed decision on 24 November 2014.

     

    Community consultation will be undertaken from week commencing 3 November 2014 for one month. A consultation event will be held on the week commencing 22 November 2014.
