Legal Implications:
In accordance with section 19(1) of the Education and Inspections Act 2006 Kent County Council intends to make the following prescribed alterations to Hugh Christie Technology College, White Cottage Road, Tonbridge, Kent TN104PU to create a new Specialist Resource Base Provision (SRBP) within the school for up to 50 children with a statement of Special Educational Needs/Education, Health and Care Plan or equivalent for Autism (ASD) from 1 September 2015.
Equality Implications:
An Equality Impact Assessment will be /has been completed as part of the proposal and can be accessed from www.kent.gov.uk/schoolconsultations
This proposal is in line with the Commissioning Plan for Education Provision 2015/19 which states that we will continue to support secondary schools in building their capacity to support children with autism; and in line with the Strategy for Children and Young People with SEND (2013).

Consultees

Members of the Education and Young People’s Sevices Cabinet Committee will discuss the proposed decision on 15 April 2015.
A consultation on the proposal to create an Specialist Resource Provision at Hugh Christie Technology College will run from 4 February 2015 – 25 March 2015. Documentation can be found on the KCC website: www.kent.gov.uk/schoolconsultations.
The Electoral Division affected by this proposed decision is Tonbridge and the local Members are; Richard Long, TD and Christopher Smith.
