Kent and Medway Prison-based Substance Misuse service - contract extension

Proposed decision: To invoke the contract extension option within the Kent and Medway Prison Based Substance Misuse Service contract until 30th September 2017

 

The decision relates to BS4K and Corporate Objectives in line with strategic principles, extending the existing contract will allow for a focus on outcomes, in a well performing service.

The service is funded entirely by NHS England, who have committed to funding this contract for the full length of the extension period. NHS England have requested that the County Council extend this contract to minimise disruption to a well-performing service, and in line with the original terms of the contract. There will be a re-procurement to commence in 2016.

Financial Implications: Up to £8,520,800 (for the 2 year of the contract).

The Adult Social Care and Health Cabinet Committee discussed the matter at its meeting of 1st May and resolved “that the decision proposed to be taken by the Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care and Public Health, to invoke the contract extension option within the Kent and Medway Prison-based Substance Misuse Service contract, until 30 September 2017, taking account of comments made by the committee, be endorsed.”
