Consultation process

KCC Waste Management is the statutory Waste Disposal Authority for Kent, and has an obligation in law to arrange for the disposal of the controlled waste collected in its area by Waste Collection Authorities. This contract is to provide for final processing of Dry Recycling collected through the Joint Municipal Waste Management Strategy. This is various mixed dry recyclables collected from Mid and West Kent Districts. Through the Mid Kent Joint Waste project KCC must meet its legal obligations under a 4-way Inter Authority Agreement with each of the partners. KCC must provide cost effective, flexible, resilient and sufficient service capacity to continue to meet / exceed landfill diversion targets through increased recycling.

Financial Implications: There is provision within the MTFP and Business Plan 16/17

Legal Implications: Provision of such disposal services is a legal obligation under the Environmental Protection Act 1990, and other related legislation.

Equality Implications: An Equalities Impact Assessment (EQIA) has been carried out, and no equalities implications have been identified.
