Proposed decision: The approve the adoption of “Working Together to Improve Outcomes”, the new Kent Children and Young People’s Framework 2016 – 2019, as Kent’s partnership strategy for children and young people.

 

How the decision relates to Corporate Objectives

The Children and Young People’s Framework will work to tackle disadvantage whilst encouraging Kent’s young people to make the most of opportunities to learn and prepare for their future. It will also enable work at district level, engaging between local and county wide partnership groups to ensure that local service development matches local need.

Financial Implications: None

Legal Implications: Under the Children’s Act 2004, Kent County Council has a duty to ensure that partner organisations in Kent co-operate to improve outcomes for children and places responsibility upon the Council to put in place arrangements to support collaboration

The Children and Young People’s Framework supports Kent County Council in the collaboration and the delivery of partnership working within the districts to enable a local response to issues impacting the lives of the children and young people of Kent.

Equality Implications: There are no equality implications associated with this decision as there is no change to any policy or eligibility criteria.

The proposed decision will be discussed at the Children’s Social Care and Health Cabinet Committee meeting on 10 November 2016.

 

Other consultation planned or undertaken: Officers have been working with the 0-25 Health and Wellbeing Board and the Local Children’s Partnership Groups on developing the framework
