    Dungeness B is a qualifying site under The Radiation Emergency Preparedness Regulations 2019 Regulations Under the new REPPIR 19 guidelines, KCC has a legal obligation to produce an off-site plan for Dungeness B

    The proposed decision was considered and endorsed at the Environment and Transport Cabinet Committee on 10 October 2019.

    Financial implications: Planning costs are absorbed into existing budgets with cost retrieval from the operator progressed where applicable. Response costs are dependent upon type, scale and duration of any incident. However, effective planning can reduce seriousness of any incident and resultant impacts (including cost).

    Legal implications: KCC has to abide by and work within the new REPPIR 19 guidelines because, as the Local Authority, we legally have to produce an off-site plan for Dungeness B – as is stated within REPPIR 19.
